How much can i expect to see remote starters cost as i am shopping around? nothing to fancy though, dont need a blackberry hanging off the key ring!

I've had 3 of them installed. They all came out to about $300. each installed. I got the ones that were pretty basic, starter, doors and trunk on the same remote. I'm thinking my next one will have the led that shows you if the veh is running. I had all mine installed. I'm pretty good at working on stuff but wouldn't even consider installing my own, too many wires.

I would agree. I looked into these a month ago, basic models (installed) by Best Buy & a couple of locals shops were at $300 with the 'interface' for your vehicle.

depends on yr, make and model. Most now have all the options, door locks etc. things that add to it are security bypass and whether you want 2 way. (signal comes back to the transmitter for confirmation that vehicle is running.) I have installed my share of these, many different brands. They are nice for the most part, but in todays economy, I can think of better ways to throw 300 bones.
