Mono weedguard on hooks

I know the fly fishing guys have this down, but does anyone know a way to rig a mono weedguard on a plain hook? Thanks, later.

A guy I worked with made some for me using heavy flourcarbon as a weed guard. He just slipped it through the eye of the hook, bent one side down the back of the hook shank and tied the fishing line down until it got about the right angle. Then he dipped it in head cement. It was for wacky rigging plastics.
