Wisconsin Deer Hunting

Just heard a rumor that there will be no EAB or extra tags handed out with each license sold this fall. Can anyone confirm this?

With the lower kill and hunters across the state upset at the amount of deer seen this last season I sure hope it's true.

I hope its not. There were alot of deer around they just didnt leave the standing corn. I saw fewer deer during the regular season yes, but I also went out for the Late season antlerless hunt. I was only able to go out 1 day and after 3pm at that and still managed to see over 20 deer in shooting range. Dropped my first less then 5 minutes after leaving the truck, I didnt even make it to my stand location. Bad weather and the large amount of standing corn played a large part of not many deer being seen

There is NO corn within 15 miles of my hunting area. Worst season we've had many years.

skee, you're lucky to have the location you do. Just shows the difference between private and public land. That is what I see as the problem. If they want to continue the EAB and Herd Mgmt. mentalities, then keep it on private lands and NOT the already overhunted and overharvested public land.

So they're gonna take another 180 turn - dirty devils better not make me buy a doe tag now after 3 years of EAB. I'm all for a ceasefire on EAB in most of the state. Hopefully they can return to a happy medium in the next few years.

I thought from the talk on here cheeseland was the mecca for deer hunting. Minnesota has it all wrong and all the other states are so much better. Wow. If this is rue it just goes to prove, there will be good years and bad years. Small changes in management will not always make a big difference over a short deer season.
