Irish setters are made by red wing boots. I wear red wings at work and would never put anything else on my feet in the morning. I also watched a thing on that aerogel thats in the footbed on one of the science channels. That stuff is amazing. A guy had his hand on one side and a burner on the other. He set that gel stuff on the flame and kept his hand there for quite a while. I'm sure that it would keep the cold ice on the bottom and the warm foot on top. I personally have never worn them. but if they are built with the same quality that red wing work boots are, Thats a plus. and if that aerogel performs in the boot the way it did in the lab, thats awesome. Buy a pair and let me know. I'm in the market for some new boots grin

Irish Setters are made by Red Wing, didn't know that and good to know.

Carhartt is made by red wing also. Had a pair of waterproof steel toe insulated work boots. Toe wore out in a month lost water resistance in 2 months soles separated in 4 months. Had a better pair of boots from Kmart that lasted longer for 1/4 the price.

Needless to say never will I buy a shoe or boot affiliated to Red Wing shoes.

I have a pair of Irish Setters also. Mine are the 800 gram (forget the exact model). I tried a pair of the Snow Claws deer hunting this year, and I had cold feet in 30 mins. Needless to say, I returned them and got a pair of Cabela's Predators. If you are somewhat active, I think the Snow Claws would be fine, but for deer hunting and ice fishing I would do something different.
