Mr. Wizard
I just got a 1999 ski doo mxz and neither the previous owner nor myself know if it is a 670 HO or 700. Did they make both engine sizes in 1999? I can't see any markings on the motor?
Macgyver55
Its more than likely a 670. Look down by the recoil on the engine case, it should have an engine model cc tag or stamp in that area. I thought 2000 was the first year for the 700, but maybe not......
FasterThanYou23
They didnt make a mxz 700 in 99.Its a 670.The 700 twin came out in 2000.The 99 670 is one of my all time favorites.
Mr. Wizard
FTY 23Is there then a diffeence between a 670 and a 670HO? What does the HO mean. Thanks
FasterThanYou23
HO is high output. It was only available on the mxz in 99 if Im not mistaken...The HO is ported and polished from the factory, it has bigger carbs, and it also has larger exhaust ports. The gearing may also be different but Im not sure. But she kicks out about 140hp.Awesome engine! 2thepointsetters
But she kicks out about 140hp Where did you find that number? The dyno sheets I found rated it at 127. With work you could get it to 140, but not stock.
FasterThanYou23
Ive seen it rated at 138 and

2thepointsetters
Not like it really matters but some of todays 800's dont even put out 140. Thats why I thought the number you said was really high and I searched it.

Mr. Wizard
Thanks for the replys. 129 or 140 HP ? My old sled was a 92 Indy Sport with a 440cc. So you think I'll be able to tell a difference?!! I'm more excited about the improved suspension. I appreciate your enthusiasm. I'm taking it out Wed. night for the 1st time. 2thepointsetters
You doubled or tripled your horsepower I sure hope you can tell the difference and it should ride at least twice as good. Just keep the rubber side down.
FasterThanYou23
Youre right I do see it rated at 127-130.The 140hp was not stock.lol My bad.But this sled rocks!Lots of power.Yeah there will be a tiny diffenence from the 92 440.lol Have fun ridin! Mr. Wizard
I checked the tag and the model # cross referenced to a Ski Doo page says the machine is a 700. Manufactured in Nov 1999. The site I found the model #'s on also said taht the model year is one year after the date of manufacture. So maybe the sled is considered a 2000. Just thought this might be interesting for some. I'm anxious to get the sled up north and ride on something other than the frozen creek.
