Keeper size lakers

What size of lake trout do you guys keep? May seem like a dumb question but I am new to trout fishing. I went out once last year as my first time and did manage a couple of small ones but threw them back. I know rainbows can only have 3 over 16" or something like that. Thanks, I am thinking about hitting the ice for some trout this weekend.

usualy I keep them at 16- 24 inches, much bigger and I throw them back.

thanks for the reply, nobody else wants to say how small of a fish they usually keep? I just caught a couple of smaller ones last year and released them, was wondering if maybe they were big enough to keep.

It is all relative to the water you fish. I usually keep them around 25" or so. I don't catch many smaller than that unless I fish some of the small lakes in the area that don't hold much other than the smaller fish.
