Amazingly, the state record adds another TWENTY THREE pounds to THAT fish!!!

Here's the story....

Opening weekend that year I was jigging for walleyes just off shore on the SE side of the point on Clearwater. The water was clear and I could see down about 15'. I came across a school of big carp and my line crossed one, and the hook stuck it in the head on the upstroke. The fish took off with the rest of the school in tow, about 3-5 fish total. I had 10 lb line and I got spooled twice as I chased it with the trolling motor. It took a good 15 minutes to get it to the boat and amazingly there were still other fish with it.

That spot was usually busy with carp early in the year and we got several large ones there. The year before, a buddy of mine decided to scuba with a spear gun to try his luck. I drove the boat with his wife in the front seat while he swam after the fish. His story was that he was swimming along when he realized that there were several large fish swimming with him. He stuck one and brought it back to the boat, handing the spear to his wife. I'll never forget that look of surprise, shock, disgust etc. on her face when she realized what she had in her hand. That one only went about 22 pounds.

Nice topic, I've got a good one from when I was like eight years old. It'll take me a couple weeks to find it and scan it but I'll get it up there, pick must be from 1989-1990
