Scott M
Here's a newbie question...I'm just wondering what the right compound would be to use to cover enamel paint on a rod. My wife has the surgeon’s hand and is putting my name on all of my summer and winter rods. She is using enamel paint. What should I cover the enamel paint with so it doesn’t fall off? A special epoxy or varnish? Just wondering. Thanks for your help.
upnorth
Rod building epoxy such as flex coat would be the best. You could also use about 10 coats of clear varnish.
rodmaker
I would stay with the flex coat epoxy. Never had a problem with that.
A.W.Wolfram
Using a color preserver then any type of 2 part thread epoxy is what I do. The CP keeps it from yellowing as fast.
rodmaker
I know of some people who sign their blanks with a very fine silver metallic sharpie. The flex coat works well for this.
