Full size newer ford went thru this weekend. The guy was driving from East Balsam and went thru in the narrows, don't know what he was thinking there was still open water on the shoreline in the channel, not sure when or if he got out I left sat afternoon and he was still in.

Two weeks ago guys were driving all over. Full sizes pulling wheelhouses too. 14" of ice then. I drove the atv through the narrows and checked the ice all the way through it. 6 1/2" was the least amound of ice I measured....right in the center between the two points. I'm suprised the truck went in. Obviously not safe there ever, but I thought there would be a bit more ice.

Happens every year in big narrows. B-man, do you know if he is a local?

I've driven most of the lake, 12-14" of ice. Not the narrows of course or the north side of the main lake, geese kept that area open for a few extra weeks. Seen a 3/4 ton towing an ice castle out from the forest circle landing.

I saw the same thing happen in the narrows between Wapogasset and Beartrap a few weeks ago. Full size pickup driving from Wapo decided he wanted to fish Beartrap, started to drive through the narrows, and went down! You must be careful, and smart out there
