Scopes?

Finlander

Question

I found out my slugs are shooting about 4" low at 50 yards on my 870 smooth bore barrel.
I have a Simmons 4X shotgun scope and the person who adjusted the scope last year is not around to adjust it for me. The windage was perfect with all shots, but it shot 4" low.
How do you adjust the scope to make it aim correctly?

The vertical adjustment on the top of the scope should be labeled with a scale of 1/8s. Every notch you turn it will adjust your shot 1/8" at 100 yards. So you going to have to go out and play with it a little.

Fin,

Your Simmons is a 1/4 adjustment at 100 yards. Just unscrew the side scope cap and turn it the direction it needs to go. To save time you can goto most places and have it bore sighted which will save you time and ammo. Some places charge and others don't. Find a place that does not change becuase boresighting only takes about 10 secs. Also if you would like it to shoot at 50 yards tell them and anyone who knows ballistics can bore sight for you given that range.

If your not going to get a chance to sight it in before you go I'd just aim high like MNice mentioned. Being 4" low at 50 yards mean going 32 clicks up to bring to center. When doing this many clicks things can move differently than you'd think. One more note. After every 8 clicks or so tap on the adjuster dial lightly. This will help seat the mechanical parts to the adjusted position.

Good Luck!
