Depth finder GPS combo question

Recommended Posts

I am looking to buy a depth finder GPS combo for somewhere in the neighborhood of $400. In that price range I have noticed there are some in color with just a standard GPS and some in Black and white that a memory card can be added inorder to get the GPS to show the lake depths. I was wondering for the money which is the better option?

Lowrance 522i are discounted right now because they are offering the HD lineup for 2009. I've seen those for around 400, just poke around. I bought mine last Spring. I love it and use it for ice season as well. Go color for sure.

Honestly, you want color because of better detail in both your sonar readings and the mapping, and you want a card reader slot so you can add a map chip for the best contour mapping.

Have you checked out the Eagle FishElite 500c - it should fit the bill for what you're looking for. You can check it out at Pro Fishing Supply by using the link in my signature.
