Slush Pockets and Water On Ice

[An Area Lake]

Man there's a lot of water on the ice now. We have 2' of snow with up to 1' of water underneath it. Will this refreeze, get worse, what? The fish should get wet, not me!

What has to happen is warmer weather to settle the snow down and then cold to freeze it up. It will happen sometime its in mother nature's hands.

was out on a local lake the other day popping holes doing some scouting and i experianced this as well, would drill a hole and there would be over an inch of water on the ice...ice was 8 inches thick but there was a constant foot or more of heavy snow over the lake i was thinking that maybe the weight of all the snow was causing this? it only happend on the south side of the lake where it was that last to freeze up...
