Hi! Was out in the afternoon yesterday on Yellow with about a hundred other boats. My 8 yr old was with. We caught a few walleyes, most of them small. Did manage to get a couple about 18". Also several northerns, a few perch and a couple nice sunnies. Not superfast action, but decent start to the year.
How did others do?

Fished Mendota in the madison chain for walleyes and ended up getting a pretty mixed bag today. Water is very clear so trolled boards in 5-10 feet hoping to find fish warming themselves, unfortunately it was cloudy and cool. Found some water that was 49-51 degrees and that's where the fish were concentrated around bait fish schools. Saw some big hooks on depth finder but didn't land anything of any size. 4 walleyes 17-18", 4 smallies, 1 largemouth and 2 northerns. Nothing big at all. Fish seemed to prefer 3" baits in the perch color.
Fished a Bass tourney on Lake Monona yesterday and caught a few keepers on worms and spinner baits, one 3 pounder. Fish are spooky with the lack of cover (weeds that is) and if they saw us first they wouldn't bit. Not on beds yet but getting ready a lot of fish shallow.

Fished the Chippewa Flowage all weekend. No eyes, a few pike. Casted cranks, live bait rigs, jigs...nothin was happening. Everyone else I talked to said things were slow for them too.

Fished the Chippewa flowage also. Hermans landing area. 5 guys Kept 12 sat. 5 sun. Compared to past years this year was sloowwww. Hope to do better on Rush (MN.) this weekend.

Fished a Waukesha Co. lake for the musky opener and put 3 in the boat including a hefty 45". Not many fish moving, but the ones that were active, were eating. It sure is great to cast again!
