fiskyknut
Okay has anyone ever used frogs for bait under the ice? I have an abundance of frogs left from my Red river trips, these are alive and kicking and big. I'm thinking of keeping them alive and trying them on the first ice this year. I do alot of Pike fishing on LOTW and during late ice I have actually found frogs in their stomachs at times upon cleaning them.So whats your thinking on this odd winter Pike bait possibility?fiskyknut
Bob_D
I've had pike spit out frogs on the ice as well. So, I don't think it would be a bad idea to use them. I would think you would need to put them right on the botom....But that is just a guess.
Lost
Sounds good to me! If you're finding them in their stomachs during ice season the pike are probably digging the frogs out of their winter homes... in the mud under the ice.I say go for it... and fish the bottom.
