1runhotshot
Because of many dry condition in the Dakotas this spring most ducks nested in Canada this year. With this forecast they are not in a big hurry for at least a week (any probably more like 2-3)http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/forecast/city_e.html?sk-40&unit=i
BoxMN
Just got back from a few days in ne NoDak. We shot about 35 birds, but that was 6 people. But plenty of missing Where we saw birds, we saw a lot of birds. Where we didn't we saw no birds. We hunted flooded bean fields and did pretty well. The ducks returned (from somewhere) to sloughs we hunted in evenings, but right at dark. Then they came in in the thousands. Pretty cool to see. We got a lot of nice but young greenheads, couple pintails, lots of gadwalls and widgeon. The ducks we did get decoyed great, but plenty of smarter higher flyers that just circled. On the way back last night we did see more ducks than I expected along 94 around fergus area, but still not tons. Good luck this weekend! I might have to not hunt this weekend to keep the piece (heh) edit - oh yeah, NE NoDak is WET! No rain while we were there, but holy cow are the fields still wet and water everywhere. Our farmer friends had plenty of probs due to the wet fields, from gummed up combines to needing tows with "the big chain"...
