why is my auger leaking gas out the muffler?!!!

so i pick my auger out from under the work bench to start it up and a **** load of gas drains out the muffler?. and when i went down today to move it,it happened again. what is the deal with that?. it is a strikemaster express 2 horse

I would probably guess that your needle and seat assy could be leaking, it is probably stuck open from old gas (varnish,) or possible your fuel tank vent is plugged, Good luck

so your saying not to leave the vent closed in storage?.

Ive had that happen to my jiffy a few times, it only happens if stored on its side with the gas tank above the motor, gravity is the culprit, store with the tank below the motor.
