Lane
Hey, a couple buddies and i were thinking of heading out west towards Morris, MN for opener. All of us are from the cities and not that familiar with that area, but we hear thats were the ducks are at. Is there any decent public places to hunt around Morris, MN and if so, what would be a good way to find them (ie. Maps of WMAs, WPAs)?
jbell1981
Thats the same general area I hunt and I used to live over there. Yes there is lots of public land. The best way to find them for me is a PRIM map for the area. You should find them at most sporting goods stores or the DNR store. There is also a book that is now made I forget the name of it, something like sportmans guide, its a series of 3-4 blue books that maps off each area fairly well. The DNR Recreational Compass will also show them, but I know some newer areas purchased in the last couple years don't show up.
carpshooterdeluxe
not trying to discourage you but your better off exploring a new area when you dont have to deal with opening day pressure. plan on being in the parking lots by 3-4 am opening morning or you will get beat on the good spots.
