Wiring a Winch on my atv I need Help?

So I mounted my new superwinch on my honda. Everything is mounted and wired and it doesn't work. On the toggle switch wires there are two wires that plug into the control box by the battery which I have done. And then an extra red wire that is shorter than the others that has no connectors. What is this for? I suspect this is why it doesn't work? Instructions don't say a word about it, what do I do with it? Does this go to the ignition or something? Thanks

That red wire should go to power location. Use an ignition switched point so the winch will not operate with the ignition off. The wiring diagram I'm looking at does show this.
