was stepping out the door this morning and this guy greeted me low and behold I had the camera in my hand so I shot a few pics of him.

Sweet shots! Some sort of hummingbird or hawk moth. Those are very cool.

could be a type of hawk moth I would not think its a sphynx moth cuz he is still sitting in that same spot and I took the pic's this morning at 9:30am

Dan....I think what you have here is a "Tobacco Hornworm Moth"...the giveaway are the yellow spots on the abdomen(4 on each side)they can have a wingspan of up to 4"...big guys for sure!...nice image !

the moth finally toke off at 6:oopm sure was cool to see and man did he hang out for along time. thinks guy for your info
