I was thinking of going to the eel pout festival this year. I am wondering if it will be worth it. Have any of you been there. What all do I need to bring besides the Busch Light. I was also wondering if it was February 14th and 15th.

I believe it's the first weekend in Feb. You could check on line.

I have been there 5-6 times, just live 20 miles from Walker, and everyone should go once at least.

The main activity seems to be drinking, but there are vendors there and lots of Pout to eat. Some even fish. The best part is you will see lots of crazy people having fun.

It is a worthwhile trip! I used to go every year with a group called "Camp Krusty". You could find us by listening for the live band in the ice house! Anyone know if they still go? I also remember "The Rowty Pouters". They once tried to melt a giant hot-tub in the center of their ice house. What were they thinking (I mean drinking)???

Probably not the best place for youngsters though...

I've been to Pout Fest in walker once and it's kinda like Sturgis meets Red Green grin.gif with a kick of Octoberfest and a hint of grumpy old men. There is a ton of fun and games and lots of good pout among a load of food to eat. Just plain fun for all, almost like the iceleaders events grin.gif

I will be there. You can either party until you drop, or do some serious fishing. Theres plenty of room for both. The Pout fest is Feb 13-15th. It is always held the last weekend of walleye fishing.

I would suggest some zip screws for your boots to go with the beer, a few blondes and a few brunettes would be GREAT, also! A bar on ski's is pretty much a must, a mixed bag of pints to keep you warm is also a GOOD idea.
SEE YA THERE

I'll be there. It's a great time. I might even fish for the first time. During the day, just walk from tent to tent, play a ton of games which involve drinking! Should be fun this year with a good supply of snow. Lots of snowmobiling, but watch the speed on the lake, because they are out in full force watching that!!!!

    • Yeah it was a beatdown
    • Your kid needs to stay with him!👍
    • My kid was eating in Beverly Hills and ran into this guy. Talked to him a bit and wished him luck in the game tonight.
    • 🤔as a recovering machinist!🤣🤣that must make me a recovering welder!
    • As a recovering machinist, I can appreciate that.  If the spec is 0.001 - 0.0015, then clearly the correct measurement is 0.00125, duh…
    • I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought. Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...
    • Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
    • I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
    • You're very lucky a troop of Sea Monkey's didn't carry you away.
    • Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe.  I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho.  Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
