I don't hunt but love outdoor nature photography and have a sony dsc-717 with cost an arm and a leg. 5 mp. If I were you I would look at olympus and canon 3 mp cameras. get the most optical zoom you can afford. In the woods you may want the zoom to shoot that big buck from a ways off. Digital zoom is ok but needs more mp's to really keep a clear picture.
