How do you properly hook up 2 12 volt batteries to use as 24 volt? is it a wire from negative on one battery and positive on the other with the trolling motor leads hooked the same way?

Place a jumper between the batteries from poistive to negative. Hook your trolling motor to the non-jumpered positive and negative posts.

thats what i thought. thanks for clarification. do you know anything about the minnkota 3 bank chargers? there is one on the new boat I bought and it doesnt work. One battery pops the fuse and the other 2 say check connection. I have tried only one battery at a time with nothing else hooked up to it and get the same results.

sounds like you might have a bad charger or there is a dead short some place, or a wire might be grounded some place. Try checking the wires from the charger to the batteries
