Shimano ultra lite reel problems

I have a AXUL-S Shmano reel that of this year I'm having fits with. When I'm jig fishing, using 1/8 oz jigs or less, after a period of time casting the line flies off the reel all twisted up. I'm using mostly round head jigs with either tube bodies or twister tails and have not had line twisting like this before. Short of deep sixing the reel any thoughts or ideas will be appreciated! If your verital jigging your jig will sprial,use a leader with a swivel.

check to make sure your roller on the reel is working, and then put a swivel a foot or to above your jig. i wouldn't use a leader unless you have to worry about being bitten off. del

i for got!! if you close your bail by hand instead of closing it by turning the handle, you can avoid some twisting too. del

Im talkin mono leader not wire. delnut flippin the bail by hand or by handle wont make any diff.

the idea of a swivel a foot or so above sounds like a good answer, I'll check the roller. Thanks all!!
