kicker motor

I am considering putting a tiller kicker on my Alumacraft Mag 165 CS with a 75 merc 2 stroke. I found a decent price on a 5 HP merc 2 stroke long shaft. Do you guys think this is enough motor for this boat?

I will be using it mostly pulling cranks on leadcore on the river. Any thoughts? I've considered going larger HP but kickers are spendy.

I think it should be sufficient most of the time... but given the current and if you add the wind in it might be close, or you'll have to run it at a higher throttle setting than normal.

I guess what I'm saying is it should be ok.. but it's kind of right on the borderline...

I agree with marine man, it will probably work fine, at least in most situations. If you can get a larger high-thrust prop for it (like on "real" kicker motors) that would help.
