Pics you guys might appreciate

On the left is my dad's first muskie rod, back from the late 60's I think. On the right is my newest rig. His is a 6 foot pool cue with an old Ambassadeur 6000 (and yes it still works just fine, but casting with the cue isn't very good). Next to it is my new rig (a longer 7'6", but notice the reel position) paired with a 6501c3. I did get to test it (WI opener, and when there's no muskies in the lake, you can throw whatever you like). Handled everything pretty well (7" Believers up to DC10's, didn't try Dawgs).

Cool pics! Thanks for sharing. This is just my opinion, but you may want to reconsider throwing DC10's with that C3. I have that same reel and I'm pretty confident of its capabilities. It may seem like it works for the DC10's at first, but over time it might wear it out.

Yeah, I have bigger slower reels that will do the job, I'd probably use something else for the smallest cranks as well. It works great for topwaters and cranks as well as small to medium bucktails which is what I was hoping for.

I just think it captures the phrase "Some things change (the rods) and some things stay the same (the reels)".

Sweet pics. I have an old 6500C3 that was my dad's first one. Believe that he bought it in '77 or '78, so not quite as old as your dads, but it still works great. I have retired it now to use only as a backup to a backup. My son already wants to keep it as well. Since he is only 7, we will see how long that reel will actually make it!
