Christopher Quast
What is a good depth to start fishing walleyes at next weekend and will this vary this time of year as the day wears on?
Scott M
Depending on your latitude, the closer you are to spawning habitat the better. Depths are going to vary. Most openers are cold and overcast, so light penetration isn't a going concern and the fish can get up really shallow. Location can vary depending on how far along the spawn/postspawn is, water temperatures, and where food will be. Cover some ground and mark your catches/bites.Good luck next week. Team Otter
You should be able to get plenty of information from these two posts: Walleye Information, Part 1 Walleye Information, Part 2 FYI: These are also on page 1 of this forum and there is another post titled "North Shore...".
