battery disconnect

Recommended Posts

I have a disconnect on our 5th wheel. We keep our trailer on our buddies land all summer, and it doesn't have any power to it. So, we use generator power along with battery power. Before we leave to come home from staying at the trailer, I turn power off before we leave. That way, the sensors won't discharge the battery before we go back up. You can always disconnect the cables at the battery, but that is a pain for me due to the battery location. Junky........

I have a battery disconnect in my fifth wheel. I put it in so I didn't have to disconnect the cables from my battery in the fall. It also works to keep the kids in my neighborhood from running the front of my camper up and down with the jack legs. I saw one a couple of blocks away that some kids had run up all the way one night.

I pull my battery in the fall and bring it inside to keep it from freezing. During the summer when the camper is not in use I keep it plugged in. That keeps the battery charged and the fridge cold for extra food(beer) storage. A shut off switch or pulling the main fuse (if there is 1) would be a good idea if the battery is draining on you.

I keep ours connected through out the year and have not had a problem with the battery draining.

I would'nt think a co detector would draw that much.

How old is the battery?
