Charging 24 volt question.

Okay we have two 12 volt deep cell batteries hooked in series. What is the best way to charge them? Buy the on board charger or charge each one seperate with a trickle charger? Or is there some other way that works better? Any help would be great thanks.

I would definitely go with an onboard charger, and you will need a bank for each battery.

I would definately go with the onboard charger. I have two boats, a 1850 Gran Sport Tyee and a 1800 Pro V that each have one, I would not do it any other way. Saves the hassle of switching the charger around so often.

Say you just have a standard charger and will be charging each battery one at a time. Do you have to disconnect the batteries so they are not in series before you charge each one, or can you leave them in series and charge one at a time?

You should be able to charge them while connected, but it is a little safer to disconnect them. You can also connect them in parallel and charge them together.

I have an on board charger on my rig. I have the starting battery and two twelves for the troller. I wouldn't go without after having one. So nice to get home, plug the boat in and ready next time I go out.
