propster
Muskiedreams (Luke?) - I told ya I'd post how we did on Webster before you left. For us Minnesota boys it is way cool to be catching muskies in April, even though it wasn't as good as I thought it might be considering the decent weather and the moon phase and the rise/set times overlapping pretty well. We caught 3 (37, 42, 44), missed one, 3 or 4 other follows, but all in the same spot. Mag dawgs and a Shallow invader is what took these fish, late morning. Suspended near the top and chasing shad in 35-40' in the deep hole in the NE basin. If you give me your email address I'll mark and scan and send you the map. Only saw one other fish caught, and that includes Hulbert and Hammernick who both had clients out both days - never saw them boat a fish or heard they got any. The fish may have been recuperating from the spawn or something, but you might hit it pretty good here in a couple days with water temps on the rise and fish becoming more active. Main lake went from 58 to 61 Sunday to Monday. I'll send Rebel the pics and ask him to post, since I am almost computer illiterate like you! Good luck. propster
In the mornings, both Mike and Jason fished the channel leading out to the main lake, and I understand why - it was the warmest (and darkest) water in the system. So we fished it also, but in the hours we shared that stretch, they never got one. However, Sunday morning Jason did fish the Backwater first for awhile, so he may have picked something up there. Never tried Barbee, but did try a small lake nearer where we were staying, just south of Culver called Bruce Lake. 245 acres, bait shop owner said 6 were caught Sunday up to 44 inches. We fished it for a couple hours right before dark, had one follow and it was a pretty good one, maybe 48 or so. White, Sucker, and crappie were the colors that worked, but the way they hammered them I'm not sure color mattered. I'll send the map to your address. Good luck!
