LaXCarp
I'm going to be in Brainerd for the summer working for the DNR. Does anyone one know where I could camp for an extended period of time? I'm not sure if there are primitive areas around where anyone can camp or if its all pretty formal. Thanks for any help!
IFallsRon
Crow Wing State Park is a few miles south of Brainerd. You can stay in one spot up to two weeks. There's a state forest campground (Pillsbury) near Pillager that's pretty nice and all primitive. There's also nice campgrounds on Gull Lake and at Crosslake. coonchaser
I think pretty much all the camp grounds will let ya stay all you want as long as you pay etc.....just go talk to them, i lived there for along time and i think most of the locals are more than accomidating
maddowg1192000
The 6 I can think of right off hand are Crow Wing State Park(south of town on 371), Cuyuna Rec. area (CR 30 in crosby on portsmouth pit), Army Corp of Engineers Camp (gull dam road north on 371), Rock Lake (CR1 north in pillager), Army Corp of Engineer Camp(crosslake), and Greer Lake (outside of crosslake not sure on road number). I think most will let you stay long periods but you could always call and find out.
