I agree Steve...pretty wild stuff! I can't explain the pattern of the old material, then again I'm not a roofer!

Looks like something a farmer would do, in attempt to keep the shingles on a rotted roof.

We tore down a building just like that last year. The guy couldn't burn it standing up. He had to have it tore down. We did, and took the shingles out, then he was allowed to burn it.
