vman59
Many of us are in a holding pattern waiting for the ice to go out and don't have readily available rivers to fish. Now is the time to take your open water gear out . Lube your reels, change lines, and be sure to check your reels for any nicks on the bails and such.Check your rod for any cracks, guides for nicks and checking the wrappings on each guide. As for the tackle box check all your favorite baits and change or sharpen the hooks and now is a good time to do any touch painting on baits that have been used and abused by the fish. I always say the more abuse a bait takes the more fish it is catching so keep it in top condition. One very cheap way to help with moisture in your tackle box is to put some moisture absorbing strips in much as we do with our guns when we put them away.It may sound funny since you use these in the water but rust will start when you put them back in the tackle box. GOOD LUCK IN THE OPEN WATER SEASON Don't forget to do the proper boat, motor and trailer maintenance to make sure you have the safest and most enjoyable fishing trip possible.
