anybody trolling lakers

I don't think anyone is specifically targeting lakers right now. The majority of the trolling is relatively tight to shore and coho seem to be the main atrraction. A few lakers, kings, browns, and steelhead are around as well. It's really a mixed bag of everything but mostly coho. The smelt are staging in tight to shore and that's where the fish are. The water clarity is poor and as that improves so will the fishing. A lot of the fish are near the surface and boards with stickbaits and spoons would probably be the best approach. With winds blowing offshore lately and moving the cooler water to the surface some of the fish may be holding a little deeper and shallow riggers or dipsies would be the way to get into that zone. Every fish has a "comfort zone" as far as temperature but the other factor in finding fish on a fairlystructurelacking lake like superior is the availability and location of forage. Right now that means smelt and they are close to shore. Stop by the Duluth forum and I'm sure a few others could help you out as well.
