LCX37C Map Data

bklimek

Question

I recently purchased a LCX37c. I'm just starting to practice with it prior to me hitting the water with it for the first time. I have a question on the MMC cards. I have both the Lakemaster and Navionics chip inserted but when I go to the Menu -> Map Data -> Navionics Map Choice my only option that appears is Lowrance? Why doesn't it show the Navionics chip as an option? When I remove the Lakemaster chip the unit makes a noise then I can select the different navionics options (southwest MN, Northwest MN, etc.) and when I go into the browse MMC files it shows all the files but when I insert the Lakemaster chip back in it makes another noise and my navionics options disappear both from the map data and the browse MMC files. It's almost as if the Lakemaster chip overrides the Navionics chip. Do I even need the lakemaster chip in? It's almost as if I don't need it because when it is removed my only option is Lowrance so I'm not sure if that is my lakemaster chip or not? It looks like it is because there is lake map data when I zoom in to some of the area lakes. I'm ramblin now but I checked everything that I knew of and what the answers to the FAQ page on Lowrance. Can anyone help or try to explain?

Thanks,

Brad

I have heard that you cant run these to chips at the same time before. From what i have heard that Lakemaster chip will over ride the Navionics chip. Try putting them into different slots, and see what happens. If you don't think the Lakemaster chip is reading right zoom out and put the chip in. If it is working you will see a black or gray out line of the state of Minnesota. You can do that same thing with the Navionics chips. The lakemaster chip show you have fare i goes out of state and where it all covers. Then Navionics chip will show you what part of the state you have selected and etc.

Let me know if what happen and if anything changes. I know these units some what grin.gif

The X37 has built-in lake maps, exactly like the ones on the Lakemaster card with the exception of the high-detail maps. One way to tell if you're looking at the chip or the hard-drive maps is to zoom into a HD lake such as Mille Lacs. You'll easily see if it's high definition or not by zooming in. Another way to tell is there should be a little icon that looks like a SD chip that flashes on the bottom of the screen when the unit is accessing the chip and loading the information.

The "Lowrance" option is the correct selection for the Lakemaster chip, but I'm not sure if you need to turn the unit off, insert the chip, and then power it back on so that it realizes it's been inserted. I guess I haven't tried hot-swapping the chip to see if it would recognize it on the fly. That's where the "beep" is coming from I'm sure.

I can't say what will happen, if anything, when both map chips are installed as I've never tried it. It appears that a different "map data" screen menu appears depending on what card is installed at the time, so as mentioned it may not work to have both inserted.

Well an employee at Cabelas told me you could run both together but I don't know? I've tried them both together in different slots. I've repowered entered them in after one another just about every combination thinkable. Now I almost think there may be something wrong with the Lakemaster chip I have. When I insert the Navionics chip by itself it makes the little beep and an icon shows at the bottom right just as you said and I can select the different regions and zoom out to see which lakes are selected. However when I insert just the Lakemaster chip by itself no noise no nothing. I choose "Lowrance" and when I zoom into Mille Lacs it is definitely not in HD it's the pre-loaded contours. When I zoom out it doesn't show as if MN is even highlighted. Problem is I got that chip for free when I bought the unit from reeds at the st. cloud sports show so I'm not sure what my options are? What do you guys suggest my next step be?

Did you try powering down the unit, inserting the LM chip, and then powering up? Go into the "map data" menu and verify that Lowrance is selected. If it's not I would change it to Lowrance and then power down and then back up again. Leave the Navionics chip out while doing this just to verify if the unit is reading the LM chip or not.
