Guest
The snow on top insulates the ice below and slows the ice making down. If it gets warm the snow will form puddles and create uneven ice conditions. A couple inches is one thing but 8 inches of slop could really do some damage. gvg_uwec
wet heavy snow is thin ice's worst enemy..last year we were graced in wis. to not have that problem but the 01-02 winters both had heavy snow before we had thick enough ice to support the weight.. inturn the ice bowed down in the center and slush was formed across all of the lakes from the water seeping through cracks above the ice. WHAT A MESS!
rod bender
We received 8" of wet snow in central Iowa last night. What will this do to the 1-3" of ice that we already had on most ponds and lakes?
