rod for okuma epixor

Hey, i recently purchased an Okuma epixor EB80 and am wondering what rod might be a good match for it? I want to try and get into some MN flatheads. Also Me and a friend are planning a road trip down south to try and get into some big blues and flatheads. I have done some research but i was wondering if any of you guys have this reel and could give me any suggestions on a good rod for it.

I would recommend a 7-8ft Medium Heavy fiberglass or composite rod.

Not sure where your from, but Moore's Bait and Tackle in South Minneapolis carries all the rods Dtro mentioned besides the Reflex. That way you could get a feel for each different rod and make a choice. Moore's also carries a lot of good terminal tackle for catfishing.

Wow! That is a huge reel. I have 2 of the EB50 and that is big, but I would say that the rods that Dtro mentioned would be good choices. I have one of mine on a MH King Kat and the other is on an Ugly Stik which I believe is also a MH.

Dan Gapen's "Far North" series rods are always a good consideration...they will have a booth.

Dtro, I wasn't aware Boss has a rod for a spinning reel?

You just have to use it upside down.

Forget the Moyer Rod

I think dtro has some nice options in his list. Cabela's has a King Kat Rod and carries Whoopin Sticks.

That 80 is a huge reel.

Im not sure anything smaller than a big surf rod would be fitting for the size of that reel.

65's are really big, 80's are whale fishing material.

yeah i know its huge, ill have to bring it with to see if the rod will fit it. Did a lot of online research and it shouldnt be too much of a problem.
