mr_jman
I already know that good places to start looking for crappies are in warmer water, muddy bottoms, weeds producing oxygen, bays, and north ends of the lake which warm up faster. Do crappies move from deeper water into shallow water and back during a one day period, or do they stay deep before making there move shallow, and then stay shallow for a while before moving back deeper? Also are movements different based on lake structure... by this I mean a lake with bays and structure compared to a pothole style lake that has a relatively "featureless" shoreline? I'm just having trouble locating crappies right now, but I know they're in there! - This lake has some bays, islands, downed trees and stumps in the water, etc. Also has a deeper hole that has produced fish earlier in the year but they don't seem to be there now! slim1
I was wondering the same, on lagoons and backwaters do they stage in deeper waters out in front of the lagoons?
palisade1kid
Early on they will stay close to that deep water that they'll retreat to every evening until the water gets up to around 50.Then they'll stay up in the shallows.
