Oil Bath Hubs vs. Traditional Hubs

Musky_Madness

Question

Oil bath hubs are supposedly the greatest thing I guess on boat trailers now. I have been reading that they can break down a lot faster than traditional greasing/packing regular bearings. A few questions I have about oil bath hubs on a new boat trailer:

1. What is needed to maintain the oil bath hubs?

2. What are some preventive maintenece steps?

3. Does anyone have any tips?

4. Anyone in here use them?

5. Like them?

I switched to Liqua- lube hub set up 2 yrs ago.No problem with my hubs since. It's best to use it on a new set of hubs.Change the oil every yr.You can see the lube in the hub and if it changes color you car getting water in.I've had no trouble. A trip in 100 degree weather and no trouble. I,m sold on them. I have a buddy that installed them also and he's happy to.

Musky Madness,

Oil bath hubs are the greatest thing ever invented for wheel bearings. Just remember to change the oil annually and replace the seals if water is getting in the hubs (oil will become discolored). I put several thousand miles on my hubs every year and since I went to oil hubs I have had no issues with bearings.
