Ice off perch tactics

What presentations and methods do you use following ice off for perch?

Plastics or hair jigs are tough to beat. Often times, no bait is required. The action can be darn near "every cast"-type action.

I stay away from the plastics myself and go with the live bait approach. Such as small ant jigs, or teardrops with waxworms or spikes, or minnows. I usually hit them right after ice off before they spawn, and then again in the fall. Corking and jigging seems to be the way to go in the areas that you caught them right before the ice came off. Generally shallow!
