0 fishgutz77
what are you using for a base plate? you'll want to cut off the excess threads outside of the wing nuts, It seems I'm allways snaging the net or line or myself on somthing like that on mine. I pull really big double boards and I'm going to make some sort of guy wire support to the bow with mine this year before I head to lake Michigan. I wish I had a better locking mechinism on my spools from time to time they will start to pay out line very slowly in rough water. looks great should work. 0 Northlander
Wade looks good. Cut the tag ends off the wheel bolt and then get 2 lines to run down to your side of the boat to keep it from rocking and too much flex. Much easier on the base too. 0 Wade Joseph
I made it so it fits tight inside one of my seat posts. I also added two eyebolts to add guide ropes to keep it from moving. I was thinking the bolts were too long by the wing nuts. gonna cut them off tommorrow. more pics
0 Northlander
Wade you might want to put them reels up higher or you will be on your knees or bending over all day. None is fun in any waves.
0 Wade Joseph
I will probably have to pull the lines in by hand and just wind them up on the reels. Btw, where can a guy get someplaner board line? How much do I need? 100', 200'??Now if we could get some 40-50 degree days and thaw out the water! I also painted the planers bright orange so they are easier to see from other boats.
0 ripstick
Wade go to marine gen. what you need is right there. Also get guide lines to the front of the boat ask russ he will tell you why. Trust me on this one.

0 Wade Joseph
Ok, bolts are cut off, and got some guide ropes to help support it and tie off to the front of the boat.
0 Northlander
Now you need 650 stickbaits, 650 more cranks,200 Northlander Special Big Water Spinners, another 500 spoons, snap weights, inline weights, 1# balls, leadcore, at least 9 trolling combos with linecounters, 3 rigger rods, 36 releases, 3-12# rigger balls, of course 2 electric downriggers, 12' big net, marine band radio, 8' antena, t-8 kicker and of course a 55# Minkota Bow Mount. I think its best to start with the bow mount Minkota. Let the games begin now Wade. Its as addictive as popcorn and almost as expensive as women and booze. Have a blast man! 0 Wade Joseph
Well, I have picked up a few cranks and sticks this winter. Gonna spool up one of my reels with leadcore, picked up some releases on HSOList, probably try to stop by MG this week and get some board line and I know a guy who is gonna set me up with a minnkota provided we can synchronize our schedules this week. 0 Sandmannd
I'm a little confused, cause I've never used planer boards. How does something like this work?
0 Northlander
You have a mast that your line is stored on. Usually 2 big wheels with crank handles that you fead line out with and then wind the line back in with. You connect your trolling boards, big ones not inlines, and set them out to the side however far you want. Then you send out your fishing lure to however far ya want, clip line in a release and clipp that to your board line, then send the release down the board line. When a fish hits it will pop your line out of the release and you fight only the fish nothing else hanging on the line. Many many different variations of this can be done but thats the basics. You can really spread out lines and no hassle of snapping off inline boards.Drawback is I dont like the slack you get after the fish pops the release and its expensive to mount a trolling mast, buy big boards, buy releases etc. etc. But hey you have to pay to play right?
