Too early for Carp?

Is it too early for Carp on the sippi? I've heard of carp runs, what are these? Any explanation would be great...

I've seen some carp shallow recently by storm drains while on the sippi. That run off is warmer than the rest of the river right now. Did here of a few being caught but I didn't try at that time. So I'd look for warmest water possible, discharges & drains etc.

Not too early. I caught two carp earlier this week and the guys I was fishing with yesterday caught a bunch.

Soon as the ice is out those fish head to the shallows where the water warms up fastest. There's some good fishing right now and for the next few weeks.

ive got 15 carp this year from a local pond that has open water for the geese and ducks.All of them have been caught on bread

I got a small one all ready.. I dont know why but it had a red tail ( No... It was not a redhorse, it had barbels and big scales), no red fins

I've got a few with red tails down there. I'm not sure if it's only a spring time / late winter coloration or what...

The ones I caught last week and the one today (first flyrod carp of the season) have a real nice deep gold on the lower caudal fin and caudal peduncle. I would love to see a more reddish fish. I love early season carp.
