Perch? Walleye??!! OR SOMETHING ELSE!!!!!!!!!??????????

Recommended Posts

Yes they can, but the only reason that it rarly happens is that their spawning habits are so different. Walleyes spawn at a much cooler temp than perch , so by the time perch are spawning male eyes are usually done milking or the other way around. And I might also add that perch spawn in areas with vegetation if possible while walleyes generally key in on hard bottom areas.

I am unsure of it myself! I would think that the closest a walleye would let a perch come would be as close as its jaws as it clamps down on dinner? Usually, perch are prey fish for walleyes? I never heard of a cross breed perch/walleye. I know that ocassionaly fish do cross breed and that size does not seem to matter but often that is done in a breeding facility not in nature. However we do know that cross breeding does occur in nature. But it is extremely rare?

Like I said in an earlier post. Ask the local DNR to identify the fish for you!

two seperate genus. percidae family but different genus. cannot cross breed by any known means. would be kind of like a chimpanzee and a gorrila trying to crossbreed. hominidae family, different genus.

This is probably a euro photo of Zander just to get something like this going here. I believe the photo is real because Zander get much larger then their north american counter parts, up to 40+ lbs. No matter it still is in the Perch Pikes family. and I'm sure they cook up just fine.

color is way off from a zander. keyword it and you'll see the dif. if those fish are real then they are indigenous to a very specific area. there are species that only live in one small area of an eco-system so who knows really. the cameraman i guess.
