basslkjohn
I've done a series of mods to my 16'basic Lund. Now I would like to improve weight distribution by moving my starting/trolling battery into a storage locker in the bow. Is there any problem with running 12V. line back to the stern? And what guage wire should I use? Thanks, Guys.
marine_man
No, there's nothing wrong with that. There have been a couple of threads in the equipment forum about this in the last 1-2 years, and I believe the typical reccomendation is to use 4 gauge for a run that long.marine_man
graybeard2
That's what I did. Made a world of difference in my boat. I used the 4 gauge wire.
basslkjohn
Thanks, Guys...I have some computer packing material that appears to be quite strong and also shock absorbant. Thought I would line the battery locker with that stuff. The four guage wire ought to be about as thick as my anchor line!
marine_man
Be sure you also have a battery tray / battery box that can be secured in there. A battery bouncing around un restrained is not good for the battery or for your wiring!marine_man
