LeeMB
If you plan on accesing Lake Winnipeg via the red river be aware the icebreaker is out on the north end of the Red.
fish_on
What does that mean for us? No access there? Where can we get on? Thanks for the update!
gatorhunter
It just means that there's a 100 foot wide trough of broken ice down the center of the river. It's only about 1 mile long with plenty of untouched ice on both sides. Just don't travel through the trough. No worries. Lee's post was mostly FYI.You can also access from Road 96 north which is 8 miles north of Petersfield on PTH #9. Turn east on 96N and go to the end. LeeMB
4 of us fished 3.5 hours this afternoon. Caught 48. All between 18"-22". Kind of odd to catch no big fish at all. Talked to a few other groups they did well too. We Accesed lake as per Gatorhunters instructions above. Buckshot's and salties were the best bait today. fish_on
We will be staying with Stu. Stayed there last time when we fished the river and it was first rate! Sounds like the fishing is picking up at the perfect time!
LeeMB
From what I can tell fishing is getting better. It seems the sunny weather helps the fishing. I talked to a couple of guys from North Dakota on Monday, they assured me fishing would be good on Tues. They had to go home...........
Ret-ro
Lee,I guess it was you we talked to out at the mouth this weekend. Saw your pickup description of Blue long box GMC.I was with the group from MN that you were fishing next to. We had the Black frabill, green otter, purple otter, black/yellow polar. You can get around the broken ice, but you need to use caution. There are a bunch of warning signs out. Pretty crazy seeing how they open up the river with the Amphibex.
