Winter season

Hey guys I was fishing an Aitkin county lake this summer for rainbow and we did fairly well in that we were able to catch a few. I noticed in the new regulations that all trout lakes in Aitkin county are open for winter fishing.

That said does anyone know how long the "winter" season lasts for trout harvest?

Also I am assuming that regular rules apply to designated trout lakes as well. One line...no live bait.

Is larva or waxies concidered live bait?

I would read the DNR regulation book, it should say in there.

No live bait basically means no live minnows. Waxies, mealworms, etc., are allowed.

If you go onto the DNR HSOforum it has all the update regs under the fishing section. Otherwise trout lakes closes on the 16th of March for lakes outside of the BWCA.
