Mid march trip

Recommended Posts

I'm going to plan a trip somewhere for mid-march.

I was thinking Devil's Lake, or LOTW to be able to have multi species catch rather than inland waters with the closed walleye and pike season. What other options would i have and how do the two lakes compare to eachother late season?

I was at LOTW last weekend and did fair but nothing spectacular. Does the bite up there pick up late in the season? How about for Devils?

I have been to both lakes in mid march, and didnt have very good luck. If there isnt too much snow on devils lake that is where I would go, just because you can fish 4 lines and bring home a bunch of perch if you want too. The problem with devils lake is getting aroud, 2 years ago we were there and there was only 2 areas to get on the lake, and there didnt seem to be any plowed roads anywhere so the places we could fish were very limited.

If you can get a hold of a couple snowmobiles then I would consider going up to the Northwest Angle. You'll be able to tie into just about every species... walleye, pike, crappies, perch, smallmouth bass... everything is up in that area and is catchable through the ice...
