ICE DANGER

Guest

Recommended Posts

We will likely see greatly fluctuating river levels into early winter on the Red River and it's tribs. All rivers should be viewed with extreme caution, anywhere and at any time.

So be very-very-very cautious on all the ice!

River ice is treacherous on a good day, early season river ice can be a killer.

If you have kids or see kids anywhere near rivers anytime soon. Please, be sure to strongly advise them to stay Completely off the ice. Also to stay clear of the slippery banks near the river ice.

Ever year we hear of such tragedies on rivers. Some make it out, many do not.

Lets all be safe and do what we can to promote safety on all ice and especially near rivers.

Good stuff Ed!!!!!

NO fish is worth the risk folks. Let's be able to play on the hard water for years to come!!!

IF you have to go alone, bring the appropriate saftey equipment! Other wise, bring a partner!!

Keep the rods bendin' and the flags flying' high!!!

I don't even like the reservoirs...I lived in South Dakota for a while, and never fished Oahe in the winter. Too much fluctuation in water levels under the ice.

Heck, I even stay away from small lakes that have rivers running through them. At least early in the season.

Words to live by Ed. Some of the best hard water fishing is on the rivers though they can be dangerous I would only recomend them well into winter 12" ice or better.
No fish is worth getting killed for. my rule? If you cant drive on it you shouldnt walk on it.

Stay dry and on the fly, if you find them they will bite..
