knotted pine resort

Has anyone stayed at knotted pine resort (about 30 miles north of silver bay)? My wife and I are planning on taking the atv's up there for a weekend in June, and was curious if anyone has had any good or bad experiences there.

Some ex-coworkers of my wife's now run the place. If you and your wife like to rough it, this will be the place. Think older cabins in the woods. The beds are soft and the fireplaces work. I've only stayed in the winter and it was convenient shelter. The owners are great and the bar pizza is top notch!

We are not expecting any 5- star resort,.....just need a place with a shower/toilet :-) I talked to the guy yesterday, and he sounded nice.

I've 4 wheeled around there many times, lots of great trails to explore. Never stayed at knotted pine, but I echo the bar pizza...they also have their own bloody mary mix that is very good!

If you dont have one already, get a superior national forest map, it will show you all the FS roads. You can pick one up at one of their offices, or maybe get on on the web.

Do we need any kind of permits to be in or ride in the national forest?

You don't need any permits, you just need to say on routes that are open to ATV's. Here's some info:

Thanks for the info! I had looked at that site earlier,...I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything regarding permits :-)

I have not stayed at the knotted pine. But have been atving on the forest roads in the area, very nice area, but some of the trails are just dead ends, overgrown where you cannot get thru.

but thats all part of adventure check out the superior national forest HSOforum for map of roads you are able to ride on.

Well, we stayed there once in the winter. We had planned to stay there two nights, but left after one. The people were nice, but the cabin was a real dump. The pipes froze, the heater cord ran through water on the floor! It is a good shelter, but that's about it. The bar is just about perfect. A nice little spot with a pool table and of course the territory is gorgeous.

Well, at least I shouldn't have to worry about freezing pipes when we go in June! We are looking forward to some good bar pizza, drinks, and great scenery!
