Genofish
I have a 2003 17' Lund Angler SS with a 2003 Yamaha 90hp 2 stroke motor. The boat is rated up to a 140hp. Is it worth it to increase the motor size and what sizes are available?
polarsusd81
I would think that at 90 horse you are probably running pretty good, 80% of max leaves you looking at a 115, but the money it will cost you to upgrade will make you think twice about it. In my opinion, you are best off keeping the 90, if you want to make it really versitile, add a T8 kicker. Then you get the quite 4 stroke for trolling purposes, but still have the kick of the 90 2 stroke. That leads to another point, a 90 2 stroke will be quicker out of the hole than a 115 fourstroke with equal propping, less torque on the newer 4 strokes. PerchJerker
Instead of repowering a boat, you are almost always FAR better off selling your boat/motor/trailer as a package and upgrading to a different boat/motor/trailer package. If you try to repower you will spend a ton of money and you will gain only a small amount in performance, it's really not the best way to go.
