Tying Bucktail Jigs?

I use standard fly tying strings, because I like the blaze orange or hot pink. I think it's because I can stretch the line a little and it will wrap neater. Before than I used regular sewing strings. So it depends on jigs with collar or without. Regular sewing thread, jig with collar. Jigs without collar the fly threads works sooo much better.

I don't know the name of the knot but I just wrap line couple of times around last thread and pull tight. Keeps it flat. Then apply fly head cement to threads.

Standard fly tying thread (6/0, 8/0, 12/0) is a bit thin for tying bucktail. Danville size A and E are good as well as some of the 3/0 fly tying thread. Some of the threads for tying bass poper fly's works well too. As for wrapping it's basically the same technique as for fly tying. You can finish with a whip finish or a couple of overhand knots.
